Men in Black Band
This is a 5 to 9 piece covers band designed specifically for corporate events and weddings. The full band consists of vocals, guitar, bass (with vocals), keys(with vocals), drums and a two piece brass section plus two backing singers. A very full sound even with the 5 piece option.
The high standard of musicianship combined with live brass and phenomenal vocals gives the band a sophisticated sound and an excellent show. Providing a mixture of motown, soul, disco and pop, the band prides themselves on having a dynamic and entertaining repertoire, having drawn on the experience of every band member to make sure that every song is a audience pleaser.
MIB have had an incredible December – the band played every day for the whole month at the fantastic London venue, The Brewery. This was such an experience. Not only have we got some fantastic corporate names to add to our CV, but from working for such a hugely successful company and playing to over 1000 people every day we have learnt SO much as a band. It would take me forever to list it all, but just as a general idea we now as a band understand more than ever that:
· It is important to be as flexible as possible for all audiences. Although we have a tried and tested set that works as a general template for most gigs, we have now learnt that every audience is different and we now have the ability to choose from over 175 songs in our repertoire to put together a set that works for young/old/quiet/rowdy/ or whatever is thrown at us!
· Modern songs work! Corporate audiences especially have heard it all before when it comes to your typical ‘I Will Survives’ and ‘Disco Infernos’. We now as a band have a huge selection of modern music in our repertoire, including hits from The Fratellis, Amy Winehouse, Guns’n Roses, Ricky Martin, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera...and this (mixed in of course with some old classics) seems to be more of what a corporate audience wants to hear. More importantly we have this whole range of repertoire under our belt and ready to pull out at any gig should be think its appropriate.
 · A little effort goes a long way – in terms of everyone – clients, audience, event planners. We all want to make each event go as swimmingly as possible! Therefore as a band we make extra effort with everything we do – whether it be making sure the stage looks tidy, presentation of ourselves both before and during the gig, ensuring we are punctual, etc etc. The list could go on forever. We now understand the true meaning of perfection!
· We can now control our sound to suit any venue. We are now set up so that should a venue have sound restrictions, provided we are let know in advance, we can use an electric drum kit and use no live backline whatsoever to ensure that the audience get the best sound as possible to suit the room restrictions.
There's lots more but I won’t bore you! We have played for some fantastic names over the past few months including: Red Letter Days, HSBC, ABN Ambro, Capital Financial, (seems we have become the bankers band!), Linklaters, Insisive Media, Jongleurs Comedy, Merrill Lynch...etc and have just returned from playing at the fantastic Madinat Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai for new years eve. The bands base price includes 2 x 60mins or 3 x 40mins sets. Should you wish the band to play for longer, they can provide an extra set for a small extra cost. This is often used by clients as a smooth jazz set over dinner, or a swing set to start off the evening entertainment.
The typical M.I.B set consists mostly of soul, motown, disco and pop and has been designed to work dynamically from start to finish. However if you would especially like some more modern music, rock’n roll or jazz M.I.B can work some into the set-list.

‘Dinner Set’ - 90 mins
You may perhaps like the band to play over dinner. This is a great way of setting the mood and warming up your guests. The band provide a 90 minute dinner set which consists of relaxing ‘Norah Jones’ style ballads and a few jazz standards.
Extra Backing Vocalists
The band can be upgraded to a 9 piece for bigger events by introducing two dynamic backing vocalists. This gives the band sound a beautiful texture of harmony and colour, and pushes the live show into a whole new league with the girls’ funky dance moves! |
